You’ve probably heard this before as advice on meditation, focussing or even stress management, that you should breathe in and out deeply so that you can concentrate on the present moment.
But what does this mean? To be present?
Being present means fully enjoying the moment you are in. It is the moment when you are completely calm and know exactly what you want. You concentrate on what you are doing without thinking about anything else. In this moment, life is more real.
That is why it is so important to cultivate the present moment, to realize its potential and to enjoy it to the full, because that is the measure of our quality of life.
Buddha said:
Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.
Of course, the present moment is a product of our past, just as it influences the future. But you know what? The life you lead is only ever now. Now, now.
Because everything I have just said in the present moment is now in the past.
How can you realize this? How can you optimize the quality of the moment?
In esoteric and spiritual communities it is said that it is possible to leave the material third dimension and that spiritual awakening enables the transition to a fifth dimension. What is that supposed to mean, you ask?
Well quite simply, the difference from the third to the fifth dimension is essentially the elimination of time. But time can only disappear if the moment is given its full meaning and thus its quality.
Little Joe, Hoss’ little brother, has shown us how. In the TV series Highway to Heaven, which he also wrote and produced, Micheal Landon, as Little Joe was named in real life, shows us what it means to be present. I can’t find a better example:
The story is about a man/angel who travels with his colleague/human across the United States to wherever his boss has sent him. So he ends up in a situation, let’s say on a farm, and in order not to attract attention, he takes a day laborer’s job there. But his real job is to find the bug, somewhere in this farm there is a bug, and the angel has to find the bug, eliminate it, satisfy his boss, and as a helper, as a human helper so to speak, he has his colleague. That sounds kind of simple, but usually it is not.
Because sometimes God’s wishes are a little hidden and the angel needs a little longer to find out who actually needs his help on this farm. But of course, as in any good TV series, he always finds out and makes everything work out for the best and then sets off again with his colleague, on a journey to wherever his boss sends him next. Let this example roll off the tongue.
Being present is our task, thinking as little as possible, because in thought lies the word, in word lies the deed and If we really want to find our task, our position in life, if we want to find contact with our Higher Self, which of course knows about all our previous lives and also knows how to become master of our timeline, then we should allow the silence to be inside of us. Otherwise we won’t hear our inner voice. I have now simply replaced the word God with our inner voice, which is the voice of our higher self, our divine self. As Jesus said, God is within us. But of course you can call it however you want.
Call it God, call it the higher self, call it the universe. It is the higher power, the energy that creates everything. Every moment of my life it can be that I have been sent somewhere not by God but by my karma. This became very clear to me a few days ago when I was talking to my neighbour who did not know what karma was. I said, do you know what karma is? Calma, calma? No, no, no, not Calma: karma! How can I expect spiritual correct behaviour from my fellow human beings if very simple terms or the basic mechanism are not clear?
We get upset when people behave as if the deluge is after them. But I should just set an example! Our task is not only to be present, but also to behave in a spiritually correct way and, in the best case, to cause other people to learn spiritually correct behavior, possibly first to imitate the mine…… and suddenly all makes sense to me: this is the end of the dark night of the soul. This is the task, this is the projection into the fifth dimension. So we won’t be picked up by any spaceship. We won’t leave Earth, but we will lift earth up to another level. This may sound completely confusing, but suddenly everything makes sense. It makes sense where I am every moment.
Obviously, finding your life’s purpose is quite easy. You just have to set an example. Everywhere people are experiencing their spiritual awakening, when everyone starts living every moment with full heart, with full consciousness, then the world will change. Of course this doesn’t happen overnight, but it is possible in small steps to change your own perception. As mentioned at the beginning, concentrating on breathing is a way to focus your awareness on the present moment. But there are also more playful methods, such as singing or dancing, that allow us to be present. And it is not absolutely necessary, although helpful, to meditate in order to turn off the brain, or rather, the thinking.
Of course, I don’t mean switching off the good sense, but simply reducing the constant blah blah, the monkeymind in our brains. You can try not to think at any moment in your daily routine. And guess what, any activity you do with passion is an activity you do without thinking.
